Strange Passions and Scared Conscience

Image
I'm little nervous. This will be my first night trek. I always find it to be amusing to lurk in the dark as the night falls and i have this liking for sodium vapour light. City becomes quieter with commuters passing by occasionally and the road will become ours to rule,  i've even gotten crazy once when i was in Adambakkam in Chennai, running along the entire width of the road, to and fro several times along with my friends .  But as the Tempo traveller entered the realms of Vishnu, it is a completely different story. No road or sodium light. Just pitch-black. In a vain attempt, tried to shoot a photo with the flash on, it did captured light bouncing off from some 200 metres, a tree, which appeared ghostly, and some bushes beyond that. We were able to see the outline of the hillock Narayangiri at some distance looking terrific in the dark void. It was 11 in the morning on the D-day and I was packing my stuffs according to ...

First Puff

'Why did i quit smoking?' I have asked myself this question several times especially during a cold night or while taking shelter at any random place on a rainy day. The cracking sound of a match stick or tick sound of a lighter or whif of tobacco in the air is enough to bring back the urge. I stayed as a non-smoker during my teenage-hood. I used to just move away if anybody just strike a matchstick to light a cigarette  around me  and if i could still smell it even after moving then I will start to swear about them to myself or to whomever is around.  For me the smoking habit started all of a sudden, as i dashed out of the office one day fully frustrated. Entered the premise next to office, which had a mini restaurant and just adjacent to it is a tea shop. 'Oru Kings Kudunga', I said and handing out a ten rupees note to the shopkeeper. Even before collecting the change, took the wax matchbox and placed the cigarette on lips. Tongue touched the cigerette butt and it tast...

Cycling in Rain

It was around 10.15 that night and it was drizzling, i was on my way back to digs after a normal day's work pedaling my cycle - Giant, Revel2. In front of me is Ganesh, pedaling hard his Roadeo Torrent. I Observed he is pedalling in his lower gear and me in the moderate 5, because for every two or three rotation he made with his pedal i did one, and resting in the meantime (Think this is why i'm nt losing any weight). I felt the cold when the rainwater hit my head through the gaps in the helmet, they have such gaps for better air circulation (Technology pissin on me!!), as i raised my face forward i felt the rainwater in my cheeks and lips. I remember later that evening when Me, Ganesh and Prakasam were chatting over coffee that he'll join me today. We work in shift 12.30 to 9.30 UK timing (gosh). Thing i love about working late is that the office will go to silent mode as time goes beyond 07.00 in the evening. I love it that way. I went to my friend Ganesh's Cubicle, w...
